Internationally renowned violin pedagogue

Professor Zakhar Bron is one of the most phenomenal violin teachers and sensitive performers in the world. He has taught the world's most famous violinists: Vadim Repin, Maxim Vengerov, Daniel Hope, David Garrett, Daishin Kashimoto, Tamaki Kawakubo, Mayuko Kamio, Vadim Gluzman, Nikolai Modaev, and others.


Born in 1947 in Uralsk. He began studying violin at the Stoliarsky Music School in Odessa, and continued his studies at the Russian State Gnesin Conservatory in Moscow with Prof. Boris Goldstein. Later he entered the Moscow State Pyotr Tchaikovsky Conservatory, studied with Prof. Igor Oistrakh, and was his assistant. After graduating, he performed as a soloist and began teaching.


From 1974 to 1988 he worked at the Novosibirsk State Mikhail Glinka Conservatory. In 1988 he moved to Germany and has since taught at various European music institutions: the Lübeck School of Music, the Rotterdam Conservatory, the Royal Academy of Music in London, the Cologne School of Music, and the Zurich University of the Arts. He currently teaches at the Reina Sofia Conservatory of Music in Madrid and the Zakhar Bron Academy in Interlaken.


Z. Bron is a laureate of many international competitions, including the Queen Elisabeth International Competition in Brussels and the Henryk Wieniawski Competition in Poznań. He performs in many countries around the world, in prestigious concert halls (Vienna, Tokyo), and has recorded and released many CDs and DVDs. Prof. Z. Bron gives lectures and conducts master classes in the USA, South America, Asia, and Europe. His students are laureates of various prestigious international competitions. Since 2010, he has been carrying out many interesting projects with Interlaken Classics. This is an orchestra of soloists that unites young talents and participates in the events of the Zakhar Bron Festival.


Prof. Z. Bron is a permanent member of the commissions of prestigious international violin competitions (Poznań, Shanghai, Monte Carlo, etc.), he has been awarded the title of Honorary Professor at institutes in Japan, Poland, Bulgaria and Russia. For his exceptional work, Z. Bron has been awarded the highest awards in Russia, Germany and Spain: in 1998 he received the Verdienstkreuz am Bande der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, in 2001 he was awarded the title of People's Artist of Russia, and in 2006 – La Orden Civil de Alfonso X el Sabio in Spain.
